Built by someone who believes in learning.
TutorBreak was founded by Stephen Brown, an engineer and entrepreneur who has spent his career at the intersection of technology and human potential.

Stephen Brown
Founder & CEO
Stephen Brown is a computer engineer with deep roots in mission-critical systems work. His early career took him to NASA Kennedy Space Center, NASA Langley Research Center, and Lockheed Martin, where he learned to design systems trusted in the world's most demanding environments.
That experience shaped a belief: the best technology disappears into the background and quietly amplifies human capability. That's what TutorBreak is designed to do.
Before TutorBreak, Stephen built and fundraised for Mobile Principal, an earlier EdTech venture that taught him the hard lessons of building a business in education: the market is enormous, the problem is real, and the solution must be both technically excellent and deeply human.
TutorBreak is the synthesis of everything he has learned: engineering rigor, entrepreneurial grit, and a genuine conviction that every learner deserves someone who believes in them.
The road to TutorBreak.
Computer Engineering
Studied computer engineering, laying the technical foundation for building complex systems at scale.
NASA & Lockheed Martin
Systems engineering experience at NASA Kennedy Space Center, NASA Langley Research Center, and Lockheed Martin, building mission-critical systems and learning what it means to ship work that matters.
Mobile Principal
Prior EdTech product and fundraising experience through Mobile Principal, learning the challenges of building, marketing, and funding an education technology company from the ground up.
TutorBreak
Founded TutorBreak with a clear vision: build the AI tutor that actually teaches. MVP complete. Launch July 6, 2026.
Why TutorBreak exists.
Every learner deserves someone who believes in them. That is not a tagline. It is a design requirement.
Every learner deserves support.
Great tutoring should not be a privilege. We built TutorBreak so that access to a patient, intelligent tutor is not determined by your income or zip code.
Teaching is different from answering.
The world has enough tools that answer questions. We built one that teaches, guiding learners to understanding, not just giving them the answer.
Build for real impact.
Years of systems engineering at NASA and Lockheed taught us what it means to build something that actually works, under pressure, at scale, for real people.
